ASSESSMENT
Assessment is defined as the number of sessions before the starting of the therapeutic programme, in which they are assessed the skills of the child. After the completion of assessment, the IEP ( Individual Eduacation Plan) is designed that cover all the areas of deficits of the child. The duration of assessment depends on the skills of each child.

THERAPIES
Special Education Sessions
Special education sessions receive the children and adolescents who face severe developmental difficulties, like autism, mental retardation and different kinds of genetic syndromes.
The goal of special education sessions is the enhancement of all skills that the child faces difficulties.
Our programmes are designed according to the principles of Applied Behaviour Analyses. We are working in all domains that the child presents difficulties and reward all the positive behaviours presented.
For the development of engagement, two-way reciprocal interaction and play, we implement DIR/Floortime Model (see link: Autism).
Τhe amount of weekly hourly sessions is decided after discussion with the families.

Councelling/ Psychotherapy
Councelling sessions with children and adolescents of typical development occur when they face important behaviour or adjustment difficulties. A child or adolescent needs counseling sessions when these difficulties influence child’s daily life function. Difficulties like these could be a divorce or death in the family, aggressive behaviour, anxiety disorders, hyperactivity, chronic and threatening for the child’s life diseases etc.
In councelling sessions play-therapy model and Cognitive Behaviour Treatment (CBT) are followed.

Speech Language Sessions: Speech language sessions occur either in typical children or in atypical development. Children of typical development it is possible to have phonological disorders or have some kind of delay in the development of their vocabulary.
Children who face developmental issues are in need of speech language sessions in order to develop their communication skills, to enhance their feeding skills and to treat their voice disorders.

Social Skills Group for Children with Autism
The social skills group is designed especially for children or adolescents with autism or other social difficulties. In the group we work on the interaction and friendship difficulties that these children face in their daily life.
The group is created only when, during the same period, we treat children with approximately the same interaction difficulties and that could be benefited from such a group.
In opposite case, we work with the typical siblings and create small play groups. Our goal is to teach typical siblings to play with their autistic brother/sister and concurrently help them to enhance their play and communication skills.
It is scientifically found that the typical siblings of the autistic children may become excellent therapists, because the adults therapists always remain adults but the sibling always is a peer.

Day-care centre for preschool children with autism or other developmental difficulties
The day- care centre is open from Μοnday-Friday, 9:00-13:00. In the day-care centre children have special education sessions, speech therapy sessions, social activities sessions, play sessions and training in life-living skills.
The day-care centre is created in cases when parents would like to offer morning sessions to their child and the duration each child remains in the centre comes after discussion with the parents.

We have external collaboration with child-psychiatrist, developmental pediatrician or occupational therapist, in case there is a need.

SUPPORT
Parent Counselling
Ιn many cases parents of pre-or school age children have concerns about different kind of childhood behaviours or nurturing issues. At this case, we offer parents’ counseling sessions, the number of which depends on the severity of their child’s difficulties.

Ηοme Parent Training
For parents with children with special needs, we arrange home visits to provide better hands-on training on the different kind of difficulties they face in their home environment. Parents receive training for behavioural difficulties, life-living skills, play skills, feeding and sleep difficulties or other difficulties.
In Dentrospito we see parents as co-therapists that continue our work with their child at home environment.

In some cases they’re arranged also school visits, for helping teachers to deal better with child’s difficulties.

School Shadow
Parents with children with autism that attend public mainstream schools have the right, according to legislation, to provide private shadowing to their child.
