Special Education Sessions

Special education sessions receive children and adolescents who face severe developmental difficulties, like autism, mental retardation and different kinds of genetic syndromes.

The goal of special education sessions is the development of all skills that the child faces difficulties.

Our programmes are fully behavioral, based on 1:1 teaching and natural environment training. We follow the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis and the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behaviour Analysts (www.bacb.com). We are working on all domains that the child presents difficulties, with an emphasis on rewarding positively all the positive behaviours the child presents.

Τhe amount of weekly hourly sessions is decided after discussion with the families.

Speech Language Sessions

Speech language sessions occur either in typical children or in atypical development. Children of typical development is possible to have a phonological disorder or some kind of delay in the development of their vocabulary.

Children who face developmental issues are in need of speech language sessions in order to develop their communication skills, to enhance their feeding skills and to treat their voice disorders.

Intervention in Feeding Disorders

In our office we implement individualized intervention programme for feeding issues of children with developmental delays or childen of typical development.

Feeding issues may be caused from behavioural issues (ie denial to cooperate), sensory oral-motor difficulties and/or medical factors.

Almost 40% of children with feeding issues face also  sensory oral-motor difficulties.

Social Skills Group for Children with Autism

The social skills group is designed especially for children or adolescents with autism or other social difficulties. In the group we work on the interaction and friendship difficulties that these children face in their daily life.

The group is created only when, during the same period of time, we treat children with approximately the same interaction difficulties that could benefit from such kind of  group.

In opposite case, we work with the typical siblings and create small play groups. Our goal is to teach typical siblings to play with their autistic brother/sister and concurrently help them to enhance their play and communication skills.

It is scientifically proven that typical siblings of autistic children may become excellent therapists, as adult therapists always remain adults but the sibling always is seen as a peer.
